The good news in all this is economy of scale keeping prices down and the facts that most of the other brands of cameras will work with this Night Owl system as long as they support AHD for HD or standard analog below HD resolutions. There are many other brands that use Raysharp as well. The chipsets, boards and etc are exactly the same as the stock machine. In most cases, there is minimal re-badging of the stock Raysharp DVR and cameras with only a few Night Owl logo, graphics and other tweaks in the firmware. Night Owl will never tell you this, but nearly all of their systems and cameras are manufactured by Zhuhai Raysharp Technology Company. I have experience installing many of these and have even performed tear downs on them. These systems do not support TVI or CVI cameras though, so if it is above standard analog resolutions, make sure the camera supports AHD and it will work with this system. Opening the cover of the DVR/NVR may cause severe electrical shock.Įven though they do not guarantee compatibility with 3rd party cameras, I can assure you that any Analog HD (AHD) camera will work with the Night Owl systems.
